Einsteins definition of INSANITY

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result and quite honestly I feel like there are so many leaders and countries who are..in a word...INSANE! I just don't understand and if someone can explain it to me I would very much appreciate it. An example of INSANITY is this war the United States and other countries are involved in, we have been fighting this war for nearly 10 years and what exactly have we accomplished? Ok, Saddam is dead, woop-pee; the Iraqi people are working on their democratic society, I said working on it, woohoo but what else has been positively accomplished? The "war on terror" as far as the retaliation for 9/11 is...wait..is it done? We still have NOT found Osama Bin Laden but at this point does it really matter? The fight against nuclear weapons. Korea and India. So many "fights" that we have been fighting for years and years and years and we have been fighting them the same ol' way, so is the way we are fighting is it working?? Doing the same thing over and over and over and over again expecting a different result. Isn't there anyone else who things this is all a futile fight? I do. If all of this posturing and guns and bombs and talking and guns and bombs and fighting over and over and over again is not changing anything then isn't it time to say STOP ALREADY!? Figure out another way to accomplish the same peace that everyone wants because the way you all are doing it just isn't working.

Do I sound angry? Frustrated? Annoyed? You betcha!! About this and so many other things but I, and so many other Americans, am just ready for the war to be over already. The war in Iraq, Iran, Isreal, Afganistan and all the other countries whose names change every other week, has been going on for centuries. Remember the whole insanity thing, doing things over and over and over and over again changing nothing but expecting a different result? If they haven't been able to change for centuries how is it supposed to change now with this current war? At the rate we are all going there will be nothing left to fight for, there must be another way. Chess. Arm wrestling. Flip a coin. Rocks-paper-scissors. I realize that that may sound like a joke however I am being semi serious.

I am 41 years old with no children and I can remember being in elementary school in the early 70's and having to go thru those air raid drills, you remember those don't you? The air raid alarm goes off either in the school and we all had to clammer under our desks or the city air raid alarm when we all had to file to the nearest air raid shelter. Ours was at the catholic school up the street. It's frightening because at least we were prepared, the kids today they have no idea what to do, I'm not saying that the school districts, cities, states or the government should reimplement the air raid drills but if there is going to be all this nuclear bomb nonsense in the news scaring the crap out of the kids then wouldn't it be responsible of our government to at least teach them what to do? Give our kids some sense of empowerment whether or not it would actually save their lives?

I am frightened. I am frightened for my family. For my friends. For my animals. For my city. My country. My world. And I know that I am not alone. We all are frightened and I am sure we all have a feeling of helplessness because all we can do is sit in our living rooms and watch the news or sit where ever we may have an internet connection and watch nearly in real time the world implode on itself and nobody is doing anything about it. In fact, the government is helping that implosion along. It's frustrating to hear politicians complain about other politicians because of the way the country is now and yet they, both democrat and republican, have only themselves to blame. I want so desperately to tell those politicians who have been in office for decades and they start complaining about the other party to look in the mirror and yell at themselves because if they don't like the way the country is they only have themselves to blame. They did it. Now our big problem is what is coming through Mexico into the US because there aren't enough border patrol officers along the US/Mexico line. Well guess what?? I can tell you exactly HOW and WHY they are getting over the border into the US and I don't even have to be there. The US government is allowing it to happen. By sending all of our men and women overseas to fight a war that has been fundamentally fought thousands of years they are leaving our southern borders wide open. Yes, there are some officials there and yes there are volunteer militia standing gaurd as well, although most do not have licenses to carry weapons but not enough to control the influx of immigrants and drug dealers coming over the border. Once again goes with my statement, if you don't like the way things are and you want to argue or yell at someone go look in a mirror and start yelling and arguing with yourself because you only have yourself to blame.

Well, I know have a headache and have said, fundamentally, what I wanted to say although I did lose my train of thought a few times so I will end this commentary right here. I do have a challenge for any and all readers, if you had the opportunity to sit down and ask any world leader currently involved in any aspect of the war in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, PRO OR CON, who would it be and what one political "end the war" question would you ask them? Mine would be for any one of the world leaders and the question would be "Is all of this worth all of the blood shed, loss of good lives and loss of money?"

On a positive note I want to wish all a Blessed, Peaceful and Loving Happy Easter.
